The Turkish language is the most common language spoken among the "other white" ethnic groups in London. The first generation of Turks generally had a limited knowledge of English with women tending to be monolingual in Turkish. On the other hand, Turkish children born in London today are usually English dominant with the level of Turkish learnt often based upon conversation and lacking in grammatical structure and breadth of vocabulary. This project is an educational space to overturn this linguistic disjuncture and to promote firstly the Turkish language, secondly its literature and thirdly the Turkish culture in general. At a Turk!
